This is the portal for the practice and research of choreography at the Academy of Dance, Oslo National Academy of the Arts. We are a small but thriving community addressing the shifting contexts of choreography today.

Academic Staff

There are currently three professors of choreography in Norway, namely Anne Grete EriksenAmanda Steggell and Per Roar Thorsnes (programme responsible).  They lead the only Masters’ programme dedicated to choreography in Norway. Bojana Cvejić, Associate Professor of Dance and Dance Theory, works between  the Masters’ programmes of dance and choreography.

Participation in the Norwegian Artistic Research Programme

Research Fellows
Eva-Cecilie Richardsen was the first research fellow from the Academy of Dance to graduate from the Fellowship Programme with her project ‘Exhibiting Choreography‘ in April 2016.

There are three research fellows now participating in the The Norwegian Artistic Research Fellowship Programme; Brynjar Åbel Bandlien, Ingri Fiksdal and Janne-Camilla Lyster.

Project Programme
Amanda Steggell’s 3-year research project, ‘Amphibious Trilogies‘ was accepted into the Norwegian Artistic Research Project Programme in February 2016.

Master students

In 2015 the intake of master students was expanded from a maximum of three students to six students every second year. Master students starting their education in 2015 are Karen Eide Boen, Simen Korsmo Robertsen, Roza Moshtaghi, Shi Pratt, Kristian Støvind and Bente Alice Westgård.

Current master students are Kyuja Bae, Katarina Skår Lisa, Thomas Prestø and Otto Ramstad.
